WHY DO I TRAVEL?
To free myself from myself.
Part of the reason I travel is to shake myself up a bit, to separate myself from my comfortable and familiar surroundings. Traveling is usually not glamorous. There are daily frustrations and times you will be uncomfortable. Sometimes things go horribly wrong. But for me, all of that is worth it. Travel is about challenging myself to be a better person by fighting the uncomfortability. Travel is not always carefree for me and despite generalized anxiety + bipolar, I have not let fear tamp down my curiosity for other cultures, and, my untethered soul simply won’t allow my physical body to remain stationary for too long. Although I collected many tales as a wild drunken solo female over the years, my globetrotting adventures continued throughout my recovery from alcohol and drugs. Before I got sober, I used alcohol and drugs to ease my nerves and to meet new folks on the road. Traveling is in my blood, and though I am sober, anxiety won’t stop me from visiting new places.

My pup, Billie, is pure joy. She is also the reason I do not take to the road permanently. Well, that and the fact that I've gotten comfortable living a cushy life.

Queerly Sober Travels
“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”
